Bethlehem: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Program of Assistance to the Palestinian people convened a training workshop on means of effective responding to AIDS through development of leadership skills of Palestinian community leaders. Proceedings of the workshop took place in Bethlehem (Occupied Palestine) from 5 to 7 July 2010 in cooperation with UNDP HIV/AIDS Regional Programme in the Arab States (HARPAS).
Bethlehem: UNDP Program of Assistance to the Palestinian people convened a training workshop for more than twenty Palestinian media professionals on means of effective responding to AIDS as a developmental challenge facing the Arab region.
The workshop, which was held in Bethlehem (occupied Palestine) from 5 to 7 July 2010, sought to mobilize workers and those interested in the field of media and enable them to be more capable of presenting issues related to AIDS in a way that results in overcoming stigmatization as well as protecting and enhancing rights of persons living with the AIDS virus (PLWH).
Jeddah – 17 June 2010: For three consecutive days from 14 to 16 June 2010, the Charity Association for AIDS Patients in Saudi Arabia organized, in cooperation with the HIV/AIDS Regional Programme in the Arab States (HARPAS), a training workshop under the title of "Leadership for Limiting Risky Behaviors among Youths".
Cairo – March 10th 2010: Ninety Arab activists met in Cairo (1-4/3/2010) from various specialties and expertise (Religious Leaders; Muslims and Christians, Human Rights Activists, NGOs Activists, and Media community members), to discuss what the best ways are to go about reaching out to most vulnerable groups in the Arab States.
Tunisia: UNDP/HARPAS organized a regional consulting meeting, to draft a training guide on women rights responding to challenges that contribute to AIDS spread. The meeting focused on HIV response as one of the most important developmental challenges, and human rights challenges that women face in the Arab Region.
Sana’a: UNDP/HARPAS held a training workshop for the media community members in Yemen from 13 to 15 Oct 2009, in partnership with the OPEC Fund for International Finance and Development ( OFID).
The UNDP HIV/AIDS Regional Programme in the Arab States (UNDP/HARPAS) organized a regional workshop entitled: “Advanced Course on Community Mobilization for HIV Prevention among Most at Risk Populations”, from 25 till 29 October 2009 in a drug rehabilitation centre in Wadi Al-Natroun, north-west of Cairo.
The UNDP HIV/AIDS Regional Programme in the Arab States , in collaboration with the Yemeni Ministry of Religious Affairs organized a training workshop for preachers and imams in Sanaa, Yemen, from the 11th till the 13th of March 2009.
This workshop, which has been attended by nearly 60 active imams, aimed at integrating religious leadership in the HIV/AIDS response programmes, through raising awareness about the different aspects of HIV/AIDS, in a way that would abolish stigma and discrimination that PLWH suffer.
Cairo – The 3nd 6-week HIV and risky behaviors training workshop began its activities 22th of April 2009 in one of the Drugs rehabilitation centers in Wadi el Natroun (Egypt). The workshop will teach practical methods in reaching out to most vulnerable groups, and will be attended by 31 participants from ten Arab States. The participants were carefully selected based on their previous work in HIV and related areas.
Cairo – The 3nd 6-week HIV and Risky behaviors Training workshop ends its activities in Wadi el Natroun (Egypt) at one of the Drug rehabilitation centers. The workshop was held from 22th of April to 5th of June of 2009. 31 trainees attended this workshop from ten Arab countries. Workshop program included: Best ways to reach MARPs and visits to centers that work in the field .Trainees developed their own suggested projects implementing what they learned in the workshop.
