Ain El Sokna ( Egypt): On 4-6 May 2010, the Cairo-based UNDP HIV/AIDS Regional Programme in the Arab States (HARPAS) held its 7th Annual HIV Focal Points and Projects Officers Meeting for the Arab States in Egypt.

This meeting was a great opportunity to provide the participants with an update on the HIV situation in the region and the developmental strategies to respond to it; to share regional and national work plans and synergize agendas; to further build Focal Points and Project Officers' capacity to respond to the HIV root challenges; to foster team building and develop working alliances throughout the region; to provide leadership development tools; and to discuss resource mobilization plans to ensure sustainability of the AIDS response in the Arab States.
